REAFE Studio has been working with longstanding client Freight Store on this new candlestick collection for some time, and we are collectively delighted with the final result. The project brings together thoughtful product design, heritage craft and a shared appreciation for simple, beautifully made objects.
The first collection was produced in collaboration with a specialist potter and pewter manufacturer in the UK. The form—quiet, balanced and pared back—takes subtle cues from early 18th-century candlesticks. Translating this reference into a more contemporary profile required multiple iterations: adjustments to proportion, weight, taper and material junctions; numerous prototypes; and many detailed measurements before we reached the final production run.
Each candlestick includes a removable candle holder insert, crafted in either pewter or turned brushed brass. This allows the piece to be easily cleaned and maintained while adding an elegant material contrast.

Tudor – a mottled, darker, time-worn surface
Chrome – a polished, reflective finish
Brushed – a softer, matt brushed surface
The second finish collection was created with a potter in Stoke-on-Trent, using a traditional slip-casting technique. Each piece is produced in one of three ceramic bodies—stoneware unglazed, bone china unglazed or earthenware with a bespoke matt black glaze.
This range celebrates the delicacy and quiet presence of ceramic, offering an alternative expression of the same core form.

Together, these candlesticks form a family of simple, timeless objects that reference the past while sitting confidently within a modern interior. A considered balance of heritage craft, contemporary restraint and thoughtful product development.
