Craft in Miniature: Candle Holders for Freight HHG

At REAFE STUDIO, we’re always drawn to projects where material, scale and detail come together with clarity and purpose. Our collaboration with Freight HHG is a perfect example of this — a series of small, finely made candle holders created for a brand that shares our appreciation for craftsmanship and quiet, purposeful design.

Freight HHG embodies a sensibility rooted in honesty, material integrity and long-lasting objects. Working alongside them allowed us to approach the design with the same values we bring to our architectural work: refined proportion, careful transitions between materials, and a calm, understated presence.

Although modest in scale, these candle holders demanded the same level of precision as any architectural project. The work became an exercise in miniaturised architecture — exploring weight, balance, shadow and surface through a more intimate lens. Each piece is the result of close dialogue with local makers, ensuring that the design intent is preserved in every edge and turning.

The outcome is a collection that feels familiar yet elevated, grounded in the sensitivity that defines Freight HHG and shaped by REAFE STUDIO’s approach to material and form. Small objects, when made with intention, have an ability to quietly anchor a space — and these candle holders do exactly that.
