Craft, Clarity & Conscious Design: The Creation of Medeau

Medeau represents a new kind of modern perfumery — one that’s clean, conscious and quietly luxurious. Founded on the principle of transparency, Medeau’s fragrances are phthalate-free, ethically sourced and made in the UK. The brand speaks to a growing movement of design-led beauty companies balancing refinement with responsibility.

REAFE STUDIO was commissioned to define every aspect of Medeau’s identity — from early brand strategy and tone of voice, through to art direction, packaging, product design, and digital experience. The outcome is a holistic design system that mirrors the purity and sophistication of the product itself.

A Modern Sensibility

From the beginning, Medeau was envisioned as a British fragrance brand with European refinement. Our creative direction aimed to express this balance — elegant, minimal, sensual yet free from excess.

We developed a visual language built on natural tones, tactile materials, and graphic restraint. Soft skin-inspired palettes and sculptural forms convey intimacy and authenticity, while the layout, typography, and imagery capture the clarity of the brand’s purpose: clean beauty, beautifully considered.

The Form of Scent

Our product design work centred on the perfume bottle and a new candle form — each object conceived as an extension of the body. The candle vessel, inspired by the curve of the female neck, was developed through a series of sculptural sketches and prototypes designed to reflect light and shadow as flame meets surface.

Every design detail — from embossed branding to colour tone — was considered to create an emotional connection between form and scent. The result is a collection that feels sensual, confident and enduringly modern.

Digital Calm

Alongside physical design, REAFE STUDIO created a wireframe website concept and art direction for Medeau’s online presence. The digital design mirrors the tactile experience of the product: clean layouts, softened whites, warm neutrals and precise typography that give space for imagery and story to breathe.

Each page communicates clarity and purpose — aligning with the brand’s clean, ingredient-focused philosophy.

Tone of Voice

We worked with Medeau to define a brand language that is contemporary, confident and warm. The tone of voice emphasises clarity over embellishment — describing the fragrances through emotion and environment, not cliché. Each scent becomes a story of connection, atmosphere and individuality, told with restraint and intelligence.
